There is going to be a very cool summer concert series at Zeitgeist this year, and it is curated by the marvelous Helen Gillet. I am playing on it on May 27th.
A couple of weeks ago, I mentioned that I would post some excerpts from my April 19 quartet show at Brown Rice in Chicago, with Matt Golombisky, Quin Kirchner, and Greg Ward.
I thought I had gone time traveling and landed on a Monday sometime before August 2005, when I turned on my car radio Wednesday evening. The familiar voice brought a smile to my face, then “Silver at Six” put a lump in my throat and a tear in my eye. “Back before then, we heard…”
It’s been almost three years, and I usually feel like we as a city are moving on and making positive progress, and then something will remind me of a particular person, or place, or thing that was a vital part of the scene, that simply isn’t here anymore, and a wave of sadness sweeps through me.
Fortunately many of these people are doing really well in other places. We still miss them though.
